Getting To Know You November... Day 29

Happy Black Friday Shoppers! AHHH Crazy madness I tell you....

Okay So Getting to know me... :) Today's topic is What do you think People Misunderstand about you most?

This is easy for me. Everyone assumes thinks that I am a talker and that I never shut up. This is only partly true. I do tend to talk a LOT when Stressed, or nervous, or just plain goofy. However I really don't talk much. I can go days with out talking to my best friends.... Current record.. 4 DAYS!

The other big one is that People with IC often get told, Oh you don't look sick, so there for you must be FINE... Well I can guarantee if you say this to someone with IC, that person will want to smack you. Point said. Auto Immune diseases you often don't see, and just because you don't see it, doesn't mean its not there or true.  If you really want to test this... Myself and any other person with it, I am sure would be glad to let you live our lives for a day...

So message of today's lesson kids... Please don't judge a book by its cover. If some one is having a bad day... Try to cheer them up... Try to empathize with people you know that have chronic illness's. Try to have compassion!

Hope you all survive the crowds today! Have fun!

Happy Thanksgiving, Get To Know Me, and Much More!

I hope you all have a wonderful day spent with either loved ones, or Friends. I have spent a few Thanksgiving's by myself so I have really come to appreciate the chaos that now is the normal of them! It also makes me appreciate people who open their homes up to people who don't have anyone or anywhere to spend it.

Now For Get To Know You November... Day 28... Have you ever had something happen to you, that you thought was bad, but it turned out to be for the best?
Yes, Yes I have. I would say that this would describe  how I felt when I left my ex-husband.  I never felt like things would get better. Especially when It came to the holidays. But I can honestly say now that with out that time in my life I would be on a different path. I would not be the same, and I would probably not be with the Handsome man I am with now. I would not Change it for the world.

Now For happy thoughts... man oh man.. Bad topic for turkey day!

Being that today is Thanksgiving I think its appropreiate to be thankful!

  • Music, with out you my days would be quiet and lonely
  • My Job... You can be stressful But I love what I do...
  • My Family... we are crazy but I am glad to have them
  • My Boyfriend and his amazing Family! I cant say thanks enough...
  • My Doctors and all they do for me.
  • I am thankful for my some what HORRIBLE healthy body.
  • I am thankful for Pacey, With out Pacey(My pacemaker) I wouldn't function.
  • The normal... Food, a roof over my head, heat and the plain basics in life.
  • My FURCHILD... Red doggy... Oh how I love you. Even when you are needy and vocal... You are there to greet me every day, and you give me loves when I need it.
  • The exisitance of hot baths, ice pack's, and heat pads... Yes this is creepy but if you have IC you understand why I say this! Oh boy I think this really should be first....

So There you have it... Have your self a Happy little Gobble day and don't forget to bring the FAT Kid out in you today!!! :)

IC... The Basics.....

I have had some people ask me to explain and give information and facts that people can share to help raise awareness for IC.

So here it is, the facts about Interstitial Cystitis! Some maybe scary or windy, But they are cold hard facts.

IC or Painful Bladder Syndrome(PBS)  is a chronic condition and diagnosis of exclusion of unknown cause characterized by bladder pain. It may be associated with urinary urgency, urinary frequency, waking at night to urinate. Those with interstitial cystitis may have symptoms that overlap with other urinary bladder disorders such as: urinary tract infection (UTI), overactive bladder, urethritis, urethral syndrome, and prostatitis. IC/PBS in a quality of life comparable to that of a patient with rheumatoid arthritis, chronic cancer pain, or a patient on kidney dialysis. (thanks Wikipedia)

The cause of IC/PBS is unknown.

Most IC/PBS patients have damaged lining to their bladder, Which makes it difficult to urinate, more prone to infections, problems with intercourse, and sever pain.  On average, a healthy adult urinates no more than seven times a day and seldom needs to get up at night to use the bathroom. Someone with a severe case of IC, on the other hand, may urinate as frequently as 60 times in 24 hours, including multiple nighttime trips to the bathroom.

Types of IC/PBS, Currently there are two recognized subtypes of IC: non-ulcerative and ulcerative.
    • Non-ulcerative: 90% of IC patients have the non-ulcerative form of IC. Non-ulcerative IC presents with pinpoint hemorrhages, also known as glomerulations, in the bladder wall. However, these are not specific for IC and any inflammation of the bladder can give that appearance.
    • Ulcerative: 5 to 10% of IC patients have the ulcerative form of IC. These patients usually have Hunner's ulcers or patches, which are red, bleeding areas on the bladder wall.
Because there is no cure for interstitial cystitis, the goal of treatment is to relieve symptoms. Not everyone with IC responds the same way to the same treatment. What works for one person may not work for another. In addition, IC treatments generally take several weeks to several months to provide relief. When you discuss your treatment options with your doctor, your doctor will help you decide which one might work best for you.

The AUA Treatment Guidelines include a treatment protocol ranging from conservative treatments to more invasive interventions with lower numbers representing less invasive methods:
1. First-line treatments - Patient education, self care (diet modification), stress management
2. Second-line treatments - Physical therapy, oral medications (amitryptiline, cimetidine or hydroxyzine, pentosan polysulfate), bladder instillations (DMSO, heparin or lidocaine)
3. Third-line treatments - Treatment of Hunner's ulcers (laser, fulguration or triamcinolone injection), hydrodistention (low pressure, short duration)
4. Fourth-line treatments - Neuromodulation (sacral or pudendal nerve)
5. Fifth-line treatments - Cyclosporine A, Botulinum Toxin (BTX-A)
6. Sixth-line treatments - Surgical intervention (urinary diversion, augmentation, cystectomy)
I hope this helps Please let me know if you have questions.....

Body Parts... Getting To Know Me November... Day 27

Let's get creepy an anatomy lesson!

Joking... I hope you didn't really think I was serious...

Today's Topic is What is your favorite part of your  body and why?

I would say that my favorite body part would be my head... It holds my face, my mouth, my hair, and my eyes. This is mainly due to the fact that with out my head I would not be able to talk, see, eat, smell anything in this amazing world...

However though I am really fond of all parts of me! How about you... Do you have a favorite part?

  • I am trying to start my own awareness group for IC in my area. All I have left is to secure my location and start from there.
  • My Grandma used to own her own bakery shop in town and was known for it... Yet I can not bake to save my life...
  • I love the smell of the rustic pine cone smell that is out in stores during the holiday season!
  • Eggnog is something that I enjoy every year! I always add nutmeg to my eggnog and it is way better!

  • One would have been dancing. I used to dance, tap, jazz, ballet, and modern.
  • I belonged to a youth group of the Freemasons. I was a member of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls.  This was probably my favorite. I grew and learned so many memories from this!
  • Holiday Memories. I would say the memories of driving around and looking at lights and spending time with family!
Day 21...If you could have one superpower, what would it be, and what would you do with it first?
I would have to say that this would be to find cure's for all auto- immune diseases. I would start with IC. Its miserable and people don't understand.

Day 22...Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 15 years?
5 years - I would hope at this point to be married, and settling with my career more. Work has been so busy, in a good way, I just wish to be fully where I see myself going with the company.  As far as wedding and marriage, Ham(the man) and I have been together for almost 3 years so at that point, I would hope that we are married.
10 years- I hope to be settled in a dream home, and married, and fully fit with my employment, and doing volunteer work to give back.
15 years- man I cant hope that are I guess just happy and satisfied with life.

Day 23... List your top 5 hobbies and why you love them!
  • Blogging- I get to Spread thoughts, ramblings, awareness and such about IC in my own little corner of the world.
  • Volunteering- Its nice to give back with out it being expected and forced upon.
  • Reading- This is my get away zen time. This is how I escape my little stresses in life.
  • Spreading IC awareness. The world doesn't accept people for who they really are. I think with awareness this will help.
  • Spending time with loved ones and friends. well just because they are awesome.
Day 24...Describe your Family dynamic as a child and your family now.
As a child I grew up in a family that had been through divorce. Neither of my parents got along so it was often split between members of my family. Vs.  The dynamic now is calm and collected, no stress and fighting. :)

Day 25... If you could paint a picture of scenery that you have seen before, what would it be?

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday! I am so ready for today to be done and glad...

First thing First, Sorry I have been MIA, I have spent the last two days recaping other posts I had missed. I really have barely checked in since the 4th when I left for my trip. Things have been so crazy both at work and home.  I will try to post a get to know me recap for the days I have missed this weekend. But until then lets do some confessing!
  • I am so happy its Friday, even though my weekend is filled with Thanksgiving day prep, and cleaning and Christmas shopping, and catching ya all up on things!
  • I have signed up for the following and I can't wait to be apart of it...

  • I am horrible at picking out gifts so I am trying to find good gifts this year.... So if you have any ideas let me know!
  • I am Really sore this week I don't know if it is the fact that the weather out side is 8-10 degrees every morning but my kidneys and pacey are killing me....
Okay I will stop whinning now. I will be a good girl and get back to the million tasks that I need to do. I hope you all have a great Friday and a Great weekend!

Getting To Know Me November... Day 19

Day 19...If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why?

I found with my recent trip that Home is really where you make it, and where your heart is. You can always travel and see things but the true meaning of home is where your loved ones are.

So what I am getting at is, I could live anywhere. I don't have to be in one place to have happiness, as long as I make it home, which is where my loved ones are and where the things I enjoy are.

Now as far as destinations go... I don't really have a specific place I would like to live. Maybe you could more or less say, a place where all my family and friends are put together!

I know I sound a sappy little girl, but it's true. I am the type of person who wants to see the world, yes some places maybe nicer and have better benefits, but My home and place I want to live is with my loved ones! So  maybe all over the world in that sense!

Hope your having a wonderful Tuesday!

Day 17.. What is the thing you most wish you were great at?
I wish the thing I were most great at is communication. I talk a little a lot but it seems when I have important things or when it comes to feelings, It never comes out how I want it to. I always end up feeling stupid or cheesy, or just plain retarded! :)

Day 18...What has been the most difficult thing you have had to forgive?
I hate to say this but this is easy, the thing that I had to forgive that was hard for me was My ex-husband and what he did to my belongings and my grandmothers things and to me.

Getting TO Know you November ... Day 16

Day 16 - What are 5 of your Greatest Accomplishments!

I would have to say my accomplishments are something I am most proud of!

  1. I am proud to say I have over come all obstacles that has been put in front of me with my Interstitial Cystitis Disease. IC is not something that is easy to have on your plate. I have overcome at least 12 surgeries in the last two years, all while still working and holding a normal life.
  2. My Job. I have an amazing position with a company that most people my age dream of. I work for a company as a Sales and Marketing Manager, Administrative/ Office Manager for the corporate office of a Hotel company. Not many can say at 23 they work for the Corporate office.
  3. I have held Two Grand Office positions with the Youth group for the Freemasons. I was apart of the International Order Of Rainbow Girls, which is a Volunteer youth group. I am proud to say I was apart of this group and two different States.
  4. I used to be a good dancer. I started Dancing when I was younger, and even made it to state levels once upon a time.
  5. I would say that My last one would be that I am a strong young woman with a determination to keep me going with Drive that will allow me to be a brave, smart and talented woman in general!

  1. People who chew with their mouth open/ smack their lips... ANNOYING- manners please.

  8. When you are in the middle of a conversation, and the person turns to you and says, "what was that, I wasn't paying attention. sorry "
  9. People who cancel plans last minute like when your pulling in their dirveway and they text you, Oh sorry I can't make it...
  10. People who think they need to fix your plate for you at holiday events. If I ask great other wise don't try to make me Fat or eat things I dont like.

Getting To Know Me November... Day 10

Today's topic is Describe your most embarrassing moment... Well I hope this is true...

My embarrassing moment involves the Man...  It was one of first few dates... I think we had only been together a month and we were sitting in His room, and talking (for some reason I was sitting on his stomache, he was laying down... I don't remember why..) about random things and getting to know each other when all of a sudden... I had to fart... Yep not classy, not what girls are supposed to do, So I went to Move to excuse my self and it came out... Yup while I was sitting on him... I started laughing so hard because I was embarrassed. Well it was a perfect moment a true embarrassing moment because I was so shy, and laughing I farted again, and laughed harder and then the process repeated like 6 times.

By the end of it I was so embarrassed, and ashamed. But My man was a trooper I had fallen off due to laughing so damn hard. He laughed as well. We were like school girls laughing over some stupid drama, it was that funny.

Annywhoo... Yes that is my most embarrassing moment is not being classy and well just not being lady like, I don't know what happened but it was bad. Lets just say my man still brings it up and gives me shit for it to this day....

Okay so no more grossness here, back to being lady like and as for the quote! That explains my embarrassing moment! No one believes me right?

Getting To Know Me November... Day 9

SOUNDS

Today's topic is Sounds, what sounds do you love?

I would have to say one of my favorite is the sounds of fire-fly's in the summer in the south! However I also enjoy the sounds of my furchild snoring, My man singing in the shower(He would never admit to this), the sounds of fire wood burning in a wood stove in the fall and winter, the sound of a piano playing in the background, Baby birds chirping in the spring, and squirrels running up and down trees!

I know they are all random but they all bring me happiness!

I hope you are all enjoying your Saturday, I am off to site see in New York City!

Getting To Know Me November... Day 8

First of all.... happy FRIDAY! You all have made it to the end of the work week! YAY!

Daily Topic Day 8:

What are 5 passions you have?

Well if any of you know me these are simple!
  • My Furchild... He has my heart, I love him so so much! I even go to plan after work events on how long he will be in his kennel... Pa-The-tic :(
  • Staying positive and happy about life. No matter what is going on I try to handle things well. Most will tell you that I look for the good in everything... Yes including the new medicine I am on... (Post coming next week). I find joy in helping make other people smile and have a little pick me upper in their day!
  • IC Awareness. I can't say how sad it is enough that even the nurses in some of the doctors office's that I have gone into as a patient don't even know what it is... Awareness people... Awareness.
  • Cooking. I love cooking. This is how I de-stress. If I am having a bad day or a grumpy moment you can probably find me in the kitchen, trying a pinterest recipe, or even trying to mock one of my grandmas!
  • Volunteering, and giving back or as some call it Paying it Forward. If you see someone in your apartment building with their hands full, and your empty, Try and help them out. It will make you feel better. I think I get this from being a Rainbow girl and apart of the Freemasons' youth group!
I know I know I am  Boring and predictable! What are some of yours?  ENJOY the Weekend!

Getting to Know Me November... Day 7

Day 7:

What is your dream job and why?

I would have to say I'm Pretty sure I have my dream job for the moment! I get to talk to people all day, I work inside so I don't have to deal with seasonal changes in weather, or climates. I get to travel, and represent my company on occasion.  I don't have to deal with crazy boss's, or co workers. I can take time of for Doctor appointments and such with out worrying.

I love it. I love the hospitality way of doing things, Making people happy and helping them build good and warm memories.

I do have to say we do have crazies(Some hotel owners/ operators you meet) and the joys of being in an industry that is open 365 days a year 24 hours a day, however Its really not that bad.

So with this being said. I love my job, it is my dream job that fits me for the time frame of life that I am in.

Whats yours?

Getting to Know Me November... Day 6

Day 6:

What is your Favorite form of Exercise?

I would have to say that due to my IC most sport activities that I used to love have been cut off. Most of the exercise that I do now is walking and stretching. Most of it is with the furchild! Total for 5 days a week I walk about a mile and a half. This doesn't include what I do on the weekends or extra fun stuff.

Some of my favorites used to be: Skiing, Hiking, jogging, and Dancing.  IC really makes it Difficult for people to move, exercise, and even move sometimes.

What about you? What are some of your favorites? Would love to hear from you!
